Tree Stewards
The Tree Steward program trains passionate and dedicated volunteers to care for the many trees we plant throughout the Cape Fear region—ensuring they thrive for generations to come.
Our Tree Stewards help lead our planting teams during the fall and winter. During the spring and summer, they're out in the field—assessing, pruning, mulching, watering, staking, and otherwise caring for the hundreds of trees we've planted in recent years as they get established.

The City of Wilmington supports our Tree Stewards initiative through a yearly contract, and we're incredibly grateful for their support as we restore our urban tree canopy.
Bartlett Tree Experts strengthens our roots—literally and figuratively. As our Preservation Partner, Bartlett not only donates generously to support our work, but also provides invaluable training for our volunteer Tree Stewards. Their expert arborists equip our community corps with the knowledge to care for the young trees we plant throughout the city, ensuring each planting grows into a lasting legacy. It's a partnership grounded in science, generosity, and a shared love for trees.

Ready to dig in and make a lasting impact? Through four interactive classes, you'll learn the essentials of tree care, from planting and pruning to mulching and watering, all under the skilled guidance of Bartlett Tree Experts. We ask that Stewards attend at least three of the four sessions.
